Ever since the global financial crisis, there has been much discussion about the internationalization of the Chinese currency, also known as the yuan or the renminbi (RMB). In the latest episode of China Takes Over the World, two noted economists debate the merits and timing of the internationalization of the RMB, the causes and effects of financial repression in China, and the potential impact of additional liberalization of China’s capital markets.
